2. Do you believe that your character flat (what you see is what you get) or multi-dimensional (there is more to him or her than meets the eye)?

  1. My character is John Tyree, from Dear John.

I believe my character is "multi-dimensional" because there is more to him than what meets the eye. He looks like a buff, laid-back surfer dude, but you'd never know by just looking at him that he has pain and guilt from the way he treated his father growing up. He suffers anguish and wishes he could take back how he treated his dad. In fact, just by looking at him and the way he treats people now (during the book), you'd never really know that he was that mean kind of person "once upon a time".

John is also a soldier. Most of the time, people go into the service because they feel that's their "calling", or it's what they are meant to do. John doesn't feel this way; the service to him is something to do to get him out of his town and away from his youth. At first, it's something for him to do because he doesn't know who he is or where he is going- when he meets Savannah, that all changes.

I think John's strongest personality traits are his ambition (to be a better person), his calm, quiet nature, and the way he loves with his whole heart (as shown in his relationship with Savannnah and eventually his father). He is also Loyal.

I think one major weakness is John's temper. he has a habit of "flying off of the handle" a little too often. But, I do notice that he doesn't go crazy over anything...just anything to do with people he cares about a ton. This tells me that he is pretty laid back and can take a lot-- but when you strike the chord that makes him tick, he will strike back.

If I had to characterize John's type, it would be the "Strong, Silent type".

  2. My book is that Last Song, and the character is Ronnie (Veronica).

MY character is definitely multi-dimensional. Ronnie's appearance is very vague. When someone looks at her, she may appear like the kind of person who is interested in the type of people who either do drugs, or have fun committing "simple" crimes. "Gone was the All-American girl he remembered, and in her place was a young women with a purple streak in her long brown hair, black fingernail polish, and dark clothing." Although Ronnie has committed crimes in her life, for example, shoplifting, she has a good, caring heart. Ronnie cares about those around her, and avoids the type of things that get people in trouble as much as she can, which is something you may not have guessed based on her appearance.

Ronnie is very independent. She likes to know that there is a sense of personal freedom wherever she is. Ronnie has never quite forgiven her father for leaving their family suddenly. Now that she is living with him for the summer, she tries to be away from him as much as possible, afraid that he may strip her to her previous life as a young, piano playing girl. She dislikes the idea of not being able to choose her own future, so she avoids her new home as much as possible. Also, when Ronnie discovered bars on the windows of her bedroom, she accused her father of trying to trap her within his home. Her accusation was soon proven false. Which is another character trait. Ronnie often jumps to conclusions, and is very accusative. She held on the the grudge against her father well, and constantly found something new she could accuse him of.

One weakness that my character has is her care for the people around her. Another is that she has trouble making the best decisions for herself, and even though she is a good person at heart, she ends up getting in more trouble than need be. For example, in order to get away from her home, Ronnie decided to start hanging out with a group of "friends." Her decision to tie herself to the group was wrong. She failed to realize at first that they were the kind of people who WOULD do illegal things. One of the members of the group, the potential "leader," Marcus, becomes intrigued by Ronnie, and potontially stalks her, getting Ronnie is false trouble with her friend, who is dating Marcus. This chain of events also leads Ronnie to be blamed for a crime she didn't commit. (I'm not telling you any more, as you'll have to read the book to find out.)

I think my character tries to hide who she really is from the world and cover up her good soul by hanging out with the wrong "type" of people. But if she were to display herself properly, she would probably attract many people who like to make bold statements, and take care of the world around them. Ronnie cares for animals, shows a soft side for children, and is independent.

  3. The book I chose is "Cirque Du Freak" and the character I chose is Mr. Crepsley.

My character seems like he doesn't care, or it may seem like he is mean, but he really isn't. He ruined Darren's life and it seemed like he didn't care, but once Darren voiced that he was unhappy, Mr. Crepsley felt bad. It didn't say he felt bad, but you could tell by what the author said, and also he took Darren to the circus so he could be happy and make friends.

My character's strong points are that he seems so innocent all the time. He knew Darren wanted to kill him, but he still cared for him and did stuff for him. He knew that Darren wanted him dead and gave him a chance to kill him, because he knew he hurt him.

One weakness my character has is blood. He is a vampire so he needs blood and sometimes when he doesn't have t and he has to run fast, he gets tired out.

  4. My Character is Marley from, Marley and Me

I believe that Marley is multi-dimensional because what i see is not all there is to him. He is a wild dog and you never know what he is going to do next.

My character is always getting into things like going through the front door and getting into food that is on the counter. You always are knowing what he is going to do next.

A weakness that Marley has is that he is always wanting to chase after other dogs and also getting into things that he is not suppose to. Marley need a LOT of attention, just like any dog needs.

  6. For my Book i chose Rascal, and the character i chose is Sterling, who is the main character. My character is multi-dimensional, i think. Sterling i think is multi-dimensional because he is only 11 but he is really mature and has many pets including a crow, a woodchuck, a skunk, Wowser(dog), and of course rascal. And he takes extremely good care of all of his pets.
I think Sterling's strongest trait is being kind and caring towards animals and people. The only weakness i think my character has is trying to do too much stuff at once and cant finish everything, like the canoe in his living room.

  7. My book is Fallen by Lauren Kate and my character is Lucinda "Luce" Price.
I would have to say that Luce is multi-dimensional, even though at first she seems like another girl who is troubled, but when you get more past that you see the tortured soul hidden underneath her pale skin.
She seems to be more of the type of person to let her feelings brew underneath the surface and never says what's on her mind. Also, I feel like she is a kind of girl who will stand up for her friends, and also a girl who let's things eat away at her.
She hasn't really shown a weakness expect her guilt causing her to eat away at her soul and she also seems to let people effect her easily.
I would Luce as a lover not a fighter, because when she was confronted by Molly-a pixie-like girl with a mean demeanor-tries to fight her in the lunchroom, she doesn't do anything until her friend,Arraine, comes to her rescue.

  9. The book I picked is Bear Grylls Gold Of The Gods.
Multi-dimensional. surprises you with some of the things he does sometimes.
Adventures, and curious. He like to be involved doesn't like to be left out of a conversation.
Doesn't always think things out all the way. Doesn't think before he acts.

  10. My book is Look Again, and my character is Ellen Gleeton.

I believe that my character, Ellen Gleeton is "multi-dimensional", there is more to her then what you just see. She looks like someone who is all about herself but she is actually very nice and cares about what other feel. She thinks that everyone has a voice that should be heard. Ellen's strongest trait is that she is a caring and concerned person. The reason that I say this is because throughout the book, she is always asking people what they think and how they feel. But she definatley thinks that everyone should treat her with the same respect she gives them. The weakness that Ellen has is she can't seem to get enough of Will and she seems a little jealous of Connie, the babysitter. Why I say that is because she is always worried that Will loves Connie more then he loves her and she is constantly bringing it up. Ellen always wants Connie to leave and get out of the house as soon as she gets home, so that Ellen can spend as much time as she can with Will.

  11. The book i picked is Hatchet.
the main character is Brian he is a lot smart then he is acting in the book because he is shocked i think he could be doing so much better then what he is doing. he is really good at finding berries and being able to only eat when he needs to. he is not very smart with making a fire or think at the moment because he is worried and scared. i think he should start walking to find his way home but he hasn't done anything he just stays there.

  12. The book I picked was The Knife Of Never Letting Go. For my character, I choose Todd because everything revolves around him. In some weird way all the secrets and other things sort of fit into him but he just doesn't know it (yet). I think that he is a multi-dimensional character. There are a lot of things that just don't seem right and that it may be one of those books where you won't believe what happened. Overall Todd is a strong brave character that really sets his place in the book. He shows no sign of weakness other than things that he least expects. Todd will be one of the characters that I think will be a great leader. Someone who will stand up for what's right. whether life or death.

  13. My book is The river and my character is brian.

i think that there is not more to the character that i read about. Some of my characters traits are that he is good in the out doors and has good instincts in the out doors. Some times he has night mares from when he was out in the woods.

  15. The book I read was The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. The character that I choose is Will.

I think that Will is pretty multi-dimensional. In the beginning Ronnie just thinks that Will in snobby and all he cares about is his friends and volleyball. But she really doesn't know about his past with Blaze and Marcus. She also doesn't know about Will's younger brother dying in a car accident and that will is really rich.
Some strong personality traits that Will has is that he really love his family and friends and will do anything to protect his family and friends. His strong traits is that he loves animals and really cares about them and loves to help them and make them feel better. He is a big problem solver. He always tries to solve problems in the best way possible. He is really down to earth and is passionate with everything he does and cares about. He overall has a good heart.
I think that Will's weakness is lying to Ronnie. He doesn't want to tell her because he's afraid to tell her about what happened with Scott and Marcus. Every second that he spends with her he knows that the truth is going to hurt her even more. He feels bad for lying to her and not telling her the truth about how really the church burned down. That definitely would be Will’s weakness.

  16. My book is Eldest and my character is Eragon

Kind of both because you can see everything about him but yet there is that little bit that's hidden

    cautious and always questioning things

not very bold, sometimes does without thinking or question

  17. My book is Gifts From the Sea by Natalie Kinsley-Warnock. The character is Quila. she is a flat character because the author describes her perfectly and she Quila is too busy to be hiding anything. She is a very protectiv person. She doesn't want to lose another family member from ignoring them. She already lost her mom to ignorance. One of her weaknesses is that she is sad about her mother's death. It holds her back from being a normal child who is hapy and playful.
