Any Doubt?!

1. Summarize (NOT COPY PASTE) who the quiz said you would be and what traits you have (things you lie to do or are interested, etc)

The quiz told me that I stubborn (check), willing to do anything for a friend (check) and absolutely love the water (not exactly).

2. In what ways do you think the description of you is accurate? (Be specific)

I think the most accurate part of the description is my loyalty for my friends. When I think back at my life, I remember MANY times that I got in trouble simply because of my friends. I tend to "wear my emotions on my sleeve" when it comes to my friends. If they say or do anything that I disagree with, they will certainly hear it from me. With that being said, I will also share with them how much they mean to me and that I would do anything for them.

I do tend to be stubborn from time to time. Mostly, whether I succeed or I fail, I want to make sure that it's because of what I did. In my opinion, nothing is a worse feeling than going against what you believe and being held accountable for it. I would much rather do what I feel is right and, at times, be wrong. Even though this might come across as being stubborn, it makes me the person that I am today.

3. In what ways do you think the description is totally not “you”? (Be specific)

I am not a huge fan of water. Don't get me wrong, I would prefer to be on a tropical beach right now as opposed to looking outside to snow and rain...but that doesn't mean that I love the water. Just walking on the beach or hanging out in a warm place is more important to me than actually being in the water. I do however LOVE scuba diving and snorkeling. Getting my scuba diving certificate is an accomplishment that I take tremendous pride in. So, do I love the water?! No. Do I like it and use it when I can? Absolutely.

4. Is there a different character that you think is more you? Why?

I like to think that I am more like Chiron. He is a good teacher and someone who obviously cares about people. I like the way that he is straight to the point if needs Percy to understand something but he doesn't burden him with a lot of information that would be difficult for him to know. He fits my personality more.

5. If not, explain why this character is the best choice for you.

See above

6. Cast your family and friends. Explain why you chose the person you chose for each character. You will be the character that best fits you.

a. Percy- I have a nephew who is in 6th grade. His name is Josh but he has a lot of characteristics in common with Percy. Josh is adventurist, caring, willing to do anything to help people, and wants to please adults. In the book, I find myself pulling for Percy to defeat evil things and I wish I could do something to shield him from his troubles. I feel that way with my nephew Josh (and all my nieces and nephews).

b. Grover- My best friend Mark. Mark was a dorky kid growing up. He was always crying about something!! We met because he was in my class (in 7th grade) and he was crying because he got his first C. After sharing my report card, Mark realized that his report card wasn't that bad. We've been friends ever since.

c. Annabeth- I had a former girlfriend who was similar to Annabeth. We had an interesting relationship because we fought often but I also knew she cared about me. I guess you could say we had a "love-hate relationship." This is a good way to describe Annabeth and Percy's relationship as well.

d. Chiron (Mr. Brunner)- I had a basketball coach in high school who was VERY tough on me. So much that I thought he was picking on me. I thought that I never could do enough to please him. As I look back, I realize that he saw the potential in me to be a great basketball player. I think that Percy realizes this about Chiron. No matter what, Percy knows that Chiron wants him to be the best person (hero) that he can be.

e. Mr. D I had a teacher in 7th grade who all the kids said was a drunk. He was old, seemed to hate all his students and always seemed to be in a bad mood. I think it would be fair to say that I hated him. When I was an adult, I ran into him and realized that he wasn't as mean and as much of a jerk as I thought. He had lost his wife of many years due to cancer. He was certainly pre-occupied with this loss. (I can't say that I blame him) I think Mr. D. means well but he is just preoccupied with the fact that his dad is upset with him.

f. Luke Both my brothers are similar to Luke because they are older, more experienced in life and I are willing to own up to their mistakes. Luke is the type of guy who doesn't "read the newspaper headlines" and, even though he could, he doesn't come across as very arrogant or cocky. Percy is lucky to have someone around his age (a little older) to share his experiences with him.

g. Clarrise I think we all at one point or another have been "bullied" or come across someone like Clarisse who is looking to embarrass us for no apparent reason. I lived next door to a boy growing up who always was looking for some reason to show me up. Like Percy, I didn't make things better by throwing in comments that didn't help the situation. I would be quick to point out his faults or "talk the talk." To me (like Percy), it felt worth it even though I got more than I gave in this category.
